Every year I write to you all from my heart on Thanksgiving Day and I write to you today about welcoming JOY into your lives.
I learned joy is not eventful;
it's an active act of gratitude.
Its a PRACTICE and its beyond
happiness.
Example, you can have a yoga attitude, believe in mind, body, spirit, wear yoga pants but not know more than 1 pose. So you believe in yoga however you don’t practice it.
So what gets in the way of
practicing joy & gratitude?
FOREBODING JOY
Scarcity mindset
Vulnerability averse
That thought of “I’m not going to
allow myself this joy because the shoe will drop”
We dress rehearse tragedy in our parenting, in our relationships and that prevents us from truly welcoming joy.
Rather than taking the vulnerability shiver that comes when things are too good as a warning sign - use it as a reminder to practice gratitude. Let it become a foundation of who you are. Let go of scarcity and dive into gratitude.
LET JOY COME IN.
“I AM GRATEFUL FOR…”
…Fab
As Fabiola said, joy and gratitude are a practice. Miracles and catastrophes are out there in equal numbers, the odds of impact outside of our influence. We are best-prepared to meet either moment when we are fed, rested, strong, clear-eyed, and self-aware.
Psychology Today says "experience of joy is increased through healthy habits such as sharing food, physical activity, writing, and self-connection." The habits of joy help us to be fed, rested, strong, clear-eyed, and self-aware.
Gather with your people to feed
one another
Connect with the strength of your
body
Start keeping a journal
Recognize your needs and empower
yourself to engage with expectations and obligations in ways that honor your
strengths
Today is an opportunity to do all of these, with even more coming up over the next five weeks.
Giving Thanks
